  1. Sir Mix A Lot Approves

of my 7ft long scarf (sing the song to yourself and it will make sense.)

Anyhow, I finished my scarf project (yes, I knit and you should know this if you are a faithful reader) on Sunday night. After a few fumbles during bind off (yeah, it’s been a while since I finished a project and I haven’t had to bind off in a while- LEAVE ME ALONE!) I finally became un-dumb and quickly finished off the project.

Initially, when I began the project, I was quite worried that the scarf would be too short. I used a different type of needle for this project (hey, April, may I continue to borrow that needle? I think I’m going to knit a throw blanket and I know just how many stitches to cast on- sort of) — it’s actually 2 end pieces with a cord connecting them–i’m sure April and Tammi know the real name. I had to restart the project twice because we thought I’d left too little, but alas, we were finally satisfied that I’d have an okay length scarf.

Yes, this is boring. So, here’s a few pictures of the scarf. I had trouble taking a picture to illustrate the true length of my lovely project, but know this, it’s longer than my gigantic couch.

Please praise me and my talents.

  2. Catalyst

I tend to believe that we should not make major life decisions while under the influence of anything but ourselves. That is to say, don’t decide to change your life while drunk, high, hungover, brokenhearted, euphoric, or extremely tired.

But, isn’t this when most of us do make these major life decisions? Something has to push us to change. The force that drives the change, the catalyst, must exist. If it’s not one of the above, what else is it? Is it a one too many meetings where you realize you are no longer engaged or buying in? Is it an epiphany that allows you to see the world as it is–realistically, instead of as you desire it to be. Now, a point of contention here from your friendly local idealist–we have to be able to see the world as we desire it, else we have no hope, no vision of what could be better, nor are we prepared for what could be worse. Not that I think people should dwell on the negative but I do believe we must face the potential.
